Yorkshire Climate Change Summit

The Climate Change Summit will be staged on Wednesday November 10 in Leeds and will bring together a range of politicians, business leaders, academics and media. Timed to coincide with the UK holding the United Nation’s COP 26 event in Glasgow, the Yorkshire & Humber Climate Commission and The Yorkshire Post is bringing the debate to the region to discuss the challenges that Yorkshire faces and discuss the best way forward to achieve our shared goals. 

Yorkshire and Humber Green Jobs and Skills Summit

Tuesday, September 28, 2021 - 13:30 to 17:00

Join us at 1:30pm on 28th September to participate in the discussions on how Yorkshire and the Humber are bridging the skills gap faced by the Net Zero transition and maximising the job opportunities that will come as part of building back better and greener. 

Keynote speakers Tracy Brabin, Mayor of West Yorkshire and Dan Jarvis MP, Mayor of the Sheffield City Region.

Net Zero Public Engagement Event

Wednesday, September 22, 2021 - 18:00 to 20:00

This public engagement event will focus on reaching Net Zero in Yorkshire and the Humber. The Climate Commission is developing a Climate Action Plan, which aims to accelerate climate resilient, net-zero development in the region through an inclusive and just transition. Topics include: energy; housing; public and commercial buildings; transport; business and industry; land and agriculture; resources and consumption. 

Climate Resilience Public Engagement Event

Tuesday, September 21, 2021 - 18:00 to 20:00

This public engagement event will focus on the issue of climate resilience in Yorkshire and the Humber. The Climate Commission is developing a Climate Action Plan, which aims to accelerate climate resilient, net-zero development in the region through an inclusive and just transition. This two-hour session is a chance to share your thoughts on the following topics: people, health and wellbeing; land, nature and food; industry & business; infrastructure; emergencies.

A Yorkshire project to give more power to low-income, marginalised and isolated communities across the region has been awarded £5m in funding.  The Yorkshire and Humber Policy Innovation Partnership (Y-PIP) comprises Yorkshire Universities, local and mayoral combined authority representatives, the Yorkshire and Humber Policy Engagement and Research Network (Y-PERN), Yorkshire & Humber Climate Commission (YHCC), Yorkshire and Humber Applied Research Collaboration, and local community groups.
