The Yorkshire and Humber Climate Commission is recruiting four new posts for their Secretariat team, to help transform their action plan into real-world impact.

The Commission is an independent advisory body working with combined and local authorities and with other public, private and third sector (i.e. NGOs and community-based) organisations across the region.

Established at the start of 2021, the Commission prepared and published the Yorkshire and Humber Climate Action Plan in November 2021. The Commission is now working with a wide range of people to build capacities for the delivery of the Action Plan.

The four new roles focus on engagement and impact, and span a number of key areas in which the Commission is working:

All four roles are at 0.8 FTE and are fixed term contracts until 31 March 2024, which is when current funding for Yorkshire and Humber Climate Commission comes to an end.

Salaries for three of the roles will be in the range of £34,000 – £41,000 per annum, pro rata. The exception is the Regional policy role which is a more senior post, at £42,000 – £52,000 per annum, pro rata.

The Secretariat team is based at the University of Leeds and is led by Co-Directors Professor Andy Gouldson, from the University of Leeds, and Rosa Foster, from the Environment Agency.

The Commission is very happy to consider secondments for the four roles.

The closing date for applications to the climate resilience and net zero roles is 30th June 2022. The closing date for applications to the business and community, and regional policy roles is 7th July 2022.

Full details of the roles can be found on the University of Leeds jobs website.
