The next meeting of the Yorkshire & Humber Climate Commission’s Communities & Engagement Panel will focus on community energy.

Vicky Dunn, Community Energy Manager and Secretary of Grimsby Community Energy (supported by Emma Bridge, Chief Executive, Community Energy England) will share her experience of developing a successful community energy initiative, followed by questions from the panel and a discussion about how more community energy projects can be developed in our region.

Ahead of COP27, join us to hear from four key regional voices as they discuss climate action and the importance of collaboration. Mayor Tracy Brabin, Priestley Centre Director Professor Piers Forster, Univerisity of Leeds Vice Chancellor Simone Buitendijk, and the Yorkshire & Humber Climate Commission’s Professor Andy Gouldson will consider the current state of play, essential next steps, and how organisations across the region can work together to pursue an ambitious path towards a net-zero West Yorkshire. 

David Shukman interviews policy experts about the implications of UK government strategies for a climate resilient Yorkshire and Humber.

Michael Jacobs (University of Sheffield), Rebecca Willis (Lancaster University) and Andy Gouldson (University of Leeds and director of Yorkshire and Humber Climate Commission) are the speakers.

The Climate Change Summit will be staged on Wednesday November 10 in Leeds and will bring together a range of politicians, business leaders, academics and media. Timed to coincide with the UK holding the United Nation’s COP 26 event in Glasgow, the Yorkshire & Humber Climate Commission and The Yorkshire Post is bringing the debate to the region to discuss the challenges that Yorkshire faces and discuss the best way forward to achieve our shared goals.
