Commission wins prize for impactful climate collaborations

Yorkshire & Humber Climate Commission has won an award for its impactful climate collaborations.

The prize, given by the Priestley Centre for Climate Futures at its formal launch event on 20 June, was established to recognise collaborations between University of Leeds researchers and partners outside of the University.

A Yorkshire project to give more power to low-income, marginalised and isolated communities across the region has been awarded £5m in funding.  The Yorkshire and Humber Policy Innovation Partnership (Y-PIP) comprises Yorkshire Universities, local and mayoral combined authority representatives, the Yorkshire and Humber Policy Engagement and Research Network (Y-PERN), Yorkshire & Humber Climate Commission (YHCC), Yorkshire and Humber Applied Research Collaboration, and local community groups.

The Regional Youth Climate Assembly for Yorkshire and Humber (RYCA) are hosting the first Yorkshire and Humber-wide Youth Climate Champion Awards in recognition of the work of young climate activists and advocates across the region. 

They have partnered with University of Leeds’ Priestley Centre for Climate Futures, Yorkshire and Humber Climate Commission, The Ernest Cook Trust, Yorkshire Wildlife Trust, The North York Moors National Park, and the Youth Work Unit Yorkshire and the Humber CIO .
