Join us online for our next community event: Share, repair, save
When?
Thursday 26 June, 2-4pm
Where?
Online (Microsoft Teams)
Who’s it for?
Anyone involved in – or just curious about – community projects that help people share, mend and waste less. Whether you’re running a tool library, working for a local council or just like fixing bikes for your neighbours, please come along to share your thoughts and experiences.
What’s the format?
During the event we will
- hear from inspiring local initiatives already making a difference
- share stories and personal experiences in small groups, and
- collate insights, challenges and solutions for growing these projects.
Why?
In a time where everything is getting more expensive, share and repair initiatives are becoming increasingly popular across Yorkshire and the Humber.
Tool libraries, repair cafés and clothes swaps can not only save us money, reduce waste and extend the life of our stuff, but they build community skills, alleviate pressure on home storage, and bring people together.
Successful projects are usually built from the ground up by people who know their communities. But that’s not always easy, and these services are not yet accessible to everyone. So we want to explore how to grow these brilliant ideas so they are available to all communities across the region, learning from those who are already making a difference.
We’ll record what we learn and share that after the event.
Speakers
Our speakers include a recently established repair café and two initiatives that are seeking to link together and build awareness and success of local projects.
- Sue Jefferson, Circular Malton
- Amie Lake-Knott, Doncaster Council
- Jean Tallis, Mytholmroyd Repair Café
