Film created for climate commission launch

A new film to launch the Yorkshire and Humber Climate Commission premiered last week to an online audience of more than 400 people.

The film, presented by BBC Meteorologist Paul Hudson, sets out the climate change challenge for the sprawling region and showcases a range of inspirational "success stories" from organisations and groups.

"The Olympic Games may or may not happen this year. In 2012, Yorkshire won seven gold medals, two silver and three bronzes - if was an independent country it would have come twelfth in the medal table. This year, the UK hosts the COP26 climate negotiations – and there’s an opportunity for Yorkshire and the Humber to be an international leader once again."

The Yorkshire and Humber Climate Commission brings together a team of climate leaders from across the public, private and third sectors, in the largest regional Commission of its kind in the UK.

The Yorkshire and Humber Climate Commission is recruiting a Chair to help ensure its efforts have a tangible impact on climate action across the region.

The Chair will help to convene the Commission and facilitate discussions across a wide range of topics and sectors.

Officially launching on 17 March, the new independent advisory body has already begun recruiting Commissioners from across a range of sectors and is now searching for a Chair to bring people together and guide their work.
