Director Rosa Foster co-hosted the Planet Possible podcast last month, alongside regular host and Commissioner Niki Roach.

Coming shortly after the close of COP29 in Azerbaijan, the episode features Niki in conversation with Piers Forster (director of the Priestley Centre for Climate Futures at University of Leeds and interim chair of the Climate Change Committee), exploring what happened at this year’s climate change conference.

Reflecting on their discussion, Rosa spoke about the critical role of local and regional climate commissions in responding to the climate and nature emergencies.

On the new UK emissions reduction target, announced during COP29 by Prime Minister Kier Starmer, Rosa said: “…the leadership that we’ve been demonstrating and how we’ve been pulling things together at both city and across Yorkshire and Humber, with a broad range of partners, means that we’re in a really, really strong place to support government with that ambition.”
