Are you passionate about the role communities can play in tackling the climate and nature crises? We’re seeking a new Co-Chair for our Communities & Engagement Panel.

The Communities & Engagement Panel is one of the Commission’s six current panels. The Panel focuses on exploring and disseminating best practice around climate engagement and community climate action; on inputting community voices into the work of the Commission and other issues relating to communities and the just transition. Members of the panel are mainly those who work for organisations who are community-focused or carry out community engagement activities. Role of the Co-Chair:

The Co-Chairs work together to cover the following key tasks:

• Develop a strategic direction for the Panel, working with the Engagement & Impact Officer and according to the overall aims and objectives of the Commission.
• Help to plan meetings / approve agenda
• Chair monthly meetings of the Panel (online)
• Invite additional participants to the panel as required
• Feedback insights and output from the Panel back into the wider Commission

We’re seeking someone with experience of working within communities on environmental or related issues who can bring understanding of how a regional panel can both learn from and help drive forward local action. You’d be working together with existing Co-Chair, Amandeep Kaur Maan.

The Commission's current panel structure is in place till March 2024, and you will play a key role in shaping our plans for community engagement in the next phase of the Commission's work. You don't need to be a climate expert to take on this role, and we welcome applications from all backgrounds. 

This is an unpaid, voluntary role.
